Desan Upgrades Slovenian Patrol Vessel
Slovenia awarded a 13.1-million-euro contract to the cooperation of the Desan for the upgrade of the patrol boat Triglav along with ASELSAN.
Turkish Desan, the Croatian Iskra Brodogradilište and the Ljubljana-based Panna Plus will upgrade the patrol boat Triglav, operating in the northern Adriatic, where the country has a small coastline. ASELSAN is also participating in the upgrade, which will provide the electronics.
As part of this order, the ship Triglav will also receive a long-range acoustic system, which enables ships to transmit sound messages in a targeted manner and can be used as a non-lethal weapon. In the tender documentation, the Ministry requested that the noise should reach the threshold of 149 decibels.
A new feature on the vessel will also be a system for detecting and operating against unmanned aerial vehicles, which, according to the tender's requirements, must enable the detection and tracking of unmanned aerial vehicles on the electromagnetic spectrum.

ROKETSAN’s MDK Fuse-Correction Kit Passes Qualification
MDK, developed by ROKETSAN for 155 mm artillery shells, providing multi-mode fuse capability and correction, has completed qualification tests.
ROKETSAN shared a video of the qualification tests on social media platform X. The 155 mm rounds fitted with MDK were fired from a T-155 FIRTINA self-propelled gun. Three rounds set to proximity fuse mode detonated mid-air successfully.
MDK’s primary function is to correct existing artillery shells using four airbrakes that constantly shift to compensate for disturbances. Air braking reduces CEP to below 50 meters. The guidance system is programmed before firing and continues to receive data from the firing platform for secondary corrections.

MDK provides four modes of fuse: impact, delayed, time, and proximity. The kit is installed the same way as conventional artillery fuses, making the integration quick.
The kit can be additionally used on 105 mm shells used by lightweight artillery systems such as MKE’s BORAN.
Usage of a correction kit, while less precise than purpose-built guided rounds, is known for cost efficiency and ease of integration. This significantly reduces the number of shells that can be fired to destroy the target, thanks to higher chances of hitting.

ÇAKIR Cruise Missile Hits Sea Target with IIR Seeker
ROKETSAN’s ÇAKIR lightweight cruise missile fired from Baykar’s AKINCI-B UCAV hit a sea target 100 km distance.
The missile reached a speed of 800 km/h or roughly Mach 0.67 in flight. The test marks another milestone with using an IIR seeker on the missile for the first time. ÇAKIR was fired for the first time from AKINCI in May 2023.
There are three types of seekers in total planned for ÇAKIR: IIR, RF, and Hybrid, combining the two.
IIR seekers for cruise missiles detect the image and heat of the target, providing better discrimination and resistance to jamming/clutter compared to RF seekers. These seekers can identify ground and sea targets, so they provide a multi-role capability.

ASELSAN Delivers MURAD Radar for AKINCI UCAV and F-16
Two MURAD AESA radars have been delivered for the F-16 fighter jet and AKINCI UCAV.
Defence Industry Agency (SSB)’s 2023 Activity Report states that the first AESA radars to upgrade F-16 ÖZGÜR-standard fighter jets and provide air-to-air capability for AKINCI UCAVs have been delivered for integration.

MURAD is a crucial component of ÖZGÜR modernisation programme, as the indigenous capability for upgrading air-to-air performance. The planned acquisition of the F-16 Block 70 upgrade package doesn’t include enough kits for the fleet, so the project is vital for keeping the fleet up-to-date.

AKINCI’s B and C variants, with significantly more powerful engines, will be able to provide the necessary power to the AESA radar.

The radar is also set to be used on HÜRJET-C light combat aircraft and KIZILELMA unmanned combat aircraft.

The first ASELFLIR-410 and ASELFLIR-500 electro-optical systems have been rolled out of the serial production line.
ASELFLIR-410 is a militarized version of the ASELFLIR-400 electro-optical system with a laser designator to guide missiles like CİRİT and UMTAS. ASELFLIR-400/410 family of electro-optics are primarily intended for helicopter platforms but can be integrated on land platforms upon need.

The new electro-optical system’s performance parameters are listed as:

In the latest firing test with ROKETSAN’s UAV-230 supersonic aero-ballistic missile, AKINCI UCAV hit a point on the sea.
The missile hit a marked point on the sea at a distance of 150 km with less than a one-meter error. In the previous test, UAV-230 reached a range of 140 km with AKINCI UCAV.

The demonstrated sub-meter accuracy of the missile is an important detail that shows the achievement made in the GNSS and INS guidance systems over the years.

Robot Teknoloji, having made its entry into the defence industry with the AZAB family of kamikaze UAVs, has taken a booth in DIMDEX 2024.
The company is developing two types of fixed-wing kamikaze UAVs with different payload capacities and ranges, AZAB T-200 and AZAB T-150.
AZAB T-200 is a long-range option with a range of 500 km and a communication range of 200 km. The UAV weighing 55 kg can carry different warheads up to 15 kg. The warhead is installed into a modular bay; thus, many types of munitions ranging from tank shells, RPG warheads, and mortar rounds can be placed. AZAB T-200 has an optical seeker and swarm flight capability. Currently, the UAV is launched by a six-meter catapult, but the company is working on a RATO system for launch from canisters.

ROKETSAN has brought its existing and new munitions and weapon systems to the DIMDEX 2024 exhibition.
ROKETSAN’s presence is essential in how some systems are displayed for the first time in a foreign exhibition.
The first of these systems is the MİDLAS vertical launch system for warships. Compared to the one in IDEF’23, a larger-scaled model is displayed with HİSAR-D, HİSAR-D Block 2 with quad-pack features, and SİPER Block 1-D air defence missiles. The naval version of the SİPER Block 2 missile and GEZGİN long-range cruise missiles will also be used on the indigenous system to replace American Mk41 VLS.

LEVENT Air Defence Missile to Answer Different Needs
ROKETSAN’s short-range air defence missile LEVENT will be developed in different configurations to respond to different needs.
During DIMDEX 2024, TurDef learned that the LEVENT missile would not be singular but has multiple variants to answer the needs of different service branches.

The missile is being developed primarily for point defence to intercept incoming anti-ship missiles and aircraft. For this purpose, the missile will be fitted with IIR and passive RF guidance, allowing for a second source of homing onto the anti-ship missiles through the emissions from RF seekers.
