Pakistan has ordered two additional MRTP 33 patrol boats (advanced fast-attack naval craft) from Turkey’s Yonca Onuk. They are likely the first of a total of eight MRTP 33s that will be ordered by the end of 2010.

The MRTP-33 is based on the Turkish Coast Guard Kaan-29 and is designed for littoral warfare operations, including escort and fast-attack missions, insertion and extraction of special forces with naval commando delivery vehicles, and search and rescue. Its twin MTU diesel engines allow a 28-knot patrol speed, while the Honeywell TF50 gas turbine will enable the boat to reach its maximum speed of 55-60 knots. The combined propulsion enables the boat to operate for up to three days at ranges up to 650 nm.

The craft is able to carry larger equipment and payload such as a combined 30mm gun, two 12.7mm machine guns, short-range surface-to-surface stabilized missile launcher, medium-range surface-to-surface guided missiles, electro-optical fire-control systems and decoys.

Zitat:Turkish Engineers Produce New Electronic Jamming Device Against Terrorist Attacks

ANKARA - A Turkish electronics company has produced a new jammer to prevent remote-controlled terrorist bomb attacks, a company official told the AA.
The new device, "Savar" (the Turkish equivalent for repeller), incorporated into a single unit various jamming systems used in different parts of world, and was produced by Turkish engineers with 100 percent Turkish capital, the company official said who asked for anonymity because of corporate security and secrecy.

The official also said that the project, which cost about 1 million USD, has drawn much international attention as the Japanese, Korean and the British offered cooperation.

The new jammer covers a 30 km perimeter and proved effective on tests against all sorts of remote-controlled explosives operated by cell phones and systems using radio frequencies.

In accordance with the resolution of the Defense Industry Executive Committee, held in February 2006, TUSAŞ Aerospace Industries (TAI) was assigned as the prime contractor of the “Erciyes Program,” which comprises the avionics system modernization of 13 C-130 aircraft that are in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force Command (TuAF). The contract, regarding the program, was signed between the Undersecretary for Defense Industries (SSM) and TAI at a ceremony held at SSM on 1 December 2006.

The prototype phase of the program, which is planned to last 56 months, includes the modernization of two aircraft at TAI’s facilities and will be completed in 30 months. The remaining 11 aircraft will be modernized at TuAF 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Center under the supervision and responsibility of TAI.

Turkey has advanced in efforts to produce a basic jet trainer.
Officials said Turkey’s Defense Industry Undersecretariat, or SSM, has approved a conceptual design stage for the air trainer program. They said the stage would last eight months and develop, produce and test designs of four basic trainer prototypes.
The prime contractor for the project has been the state-owned Tusas Aerospace Industries. The entire program, launched in March 2006 and termed Hurkus, was expected to last 59 months.
TAI has been regarded as the leading defense contractor in Turkey. The company has participated in every Turkish Air Force program, including the airborne early-warning and alert project led by Boeing.

At the “Erciyes Program Kick-off Meeting,” which was attended by representatives of the Turkish Air Force (TuAF) Command, SSM and Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc., following the review and approval of the program requirements, the program was initiated.

Wegen dem Armeniergesetz in Frankreich wird die Türkei sicher nicht weiter mit den Franzosen daran arbeiten. Ich weiß allerdings nicht inwieweit das türkische Konsortium seine Pläne für einen MBT vorantreibt.

Nein, es existiert ein komplett einheimisches Projekt, das nichts mit dem Entwurf von Giat/Nexter zu tun hat. Die letzten Informationen, die ich dazu habe, lauten derart, dass eine Einführung eines Serienfahrzeugs theoretisch ab 2012 oder 2013 vorgesehen ist, allerdings schaut man sich derzeit wohl noch nach beschränkter ausländischer Unterstützung (ToT?) um, Gerüchten zufolge in Deutschland und Südkorea.
