hm, neueste Fotos, die aber ohne Datumsangabe im Internet aufgetaucht sind, zeigen die LIAONING mit einem mobilen ATC-Tower hinter der Insel (Heck, Steuerbord). Das könnte tatsächlich - wenn es auch wirklich aktuelle Bilder sind und nicht irgendwas aus der Mottenkiste - auf Probleme hindeuten. Nachkalibrierung von Radargeräten?
Etwas anderes: während die indische Navy die VIKRAMADITIYA (ex-ADMIRAL GORSHKOV) aus Russland übernehmen wird und dann nach neueren Meldungen bereits über 12 einsatzbereite MiG-29 verfügen wird, sind bei der Liaoning immer nur die paar (Vorserien-?)Flugzeuge J-15 ersichtlich, die schon seit Monaten zur Ausbildung und Qualifizierung verwendet werden. Die Flugzeuge sind sowohl auf der AirBase wie auch auf dem Träger zu sehen, auch auf den neueren Bildern und Videos, und keine anderen. Gibt es da Probleme bei den Chinesen mit der Flugzeugproduktion oder Abnahme?
Und wieso werden immer nur die J-15 gezeigt? Seit Jahren wird immer wieder berichtet, die neueren Trainingsflugzeuge (JL-9 und JL-15) seien auch für die Pilotenausbildung auf dem Träger vorgesehen. Die JL-15 hat auch zwei Triebwerke (was die Sicherheit bei der heiklen Startpahse erhöht), und die JL-9 ist auch schon mit Fanghaken dokumentiert worden.
Wenn es denn Lieferprobleme bei der J-15 gibt, dann wäre doch zu erwarten, dass wenigstens einzelne Trainer ausgeliefert werden, um die Ausbildung zu intensivieren. Aber da ist in den ganzen Foren und Blogs nichts - nicht einmal eine Spekuation - zu bemerken, niente, nüscht, totale Funkstille.
Damit stellt sich die Frage, ob es Probleme mit dem Schiff oder seiner Ausrüstung gibt, die eine Intensivierung des Flugbetriebs verhindern. Und damit schließt sich der Kreis zur obigen Meldung.

Notably, one of the People’s Daily reports observed that the J-15’s “front wheel is suitable for catapult launch similar to the carrier-based fighter of the U.S. Navy. The catapult launch was taken into consideration at the beginning of its design.”
In that context, Admiral Wu’s comments seem very interesting indeed.
