Bayraktar TB3 Performs Full-Autonomous Sorties Consecutively TurDef
Baykar’s Bayraktar TB3 UCAV successfully performed four consecutive takeoff-landing tests on TCG Anadolu LHD (L400) with full autonomy in the Gulf of Saros.

Following the first flight from TCG Anadolu towards the end of 2024, Bayraktar TB3 is continuing its tests onboard the LHD set to become a pioneering platform in the shipborne deployment of UCAVs.

Bayraktar TB3 performing the sorties fully autonomously is an important demonstration on the way to deployment. Lowered human involvement in something as delicate as sortie of a fixed-wing platform on an LHD with a single runway can reduce human error and be potentially more efficient in timing.

KUZGUN KY Missile’s Technical Specifications Get Revised TurDef
Specifications of TÜBİTAK SAGE’s KUZGUN KY rocket-powered modular missile intended for USVs and UAVs have received revisions spotted during TEKNOFEST 2025.

The new specifications of the KUZGUN KY show a significantly larger warhead and shorter range than what was previously given.

Previously, the missile’s warhead was stated as 10 kg and range as 20 km to 40 km. The new specifications seen in TEKNOFEST 2025, held in TRNC, show that these specifications have changed to a 15 kg warhead and a range of 15 km to 30 km, depending on launch conditions. The larger warhead has increased the total weight from 75 kg to 80 kg.

The warhead options for KUZGUN KY are listed as explosively-formed penetrator (EFP) against hardened targets and HE-FRAG. On the other hand, seeker options are laser and TV. The common guidance package consists of GNSS, INS, and two-way data-link.

KUZGUN KY as a Tactical High-Speed Hitter

KUZGUN KY was revealed during IDEF’21 as the third variant in the line after the gliding KUZGUN SS and turbojet-powered KUZGUN TJ.

ASELSAN Exports 81 mm ALKAR and GÖKDENİZ CIWS to East Europe TurDef
ASELSAN announced the export of ALKAR 100/81 automated mortar and GÖKDENİZ 100/35/StA CIWS to the Eastern Europe region, without disclosing the customers.

ASELSAN disclosed the export of ALKAR 100/81 lightweight automated mortar system and GÖKDENİZ 100/35/StA CIWS to the Eastern Europe region. As the countries are not stated, it is not known if there are two customers or both systems were ordered by the same customer.

ALKAR 100/81 will be exported as part of an agreement with a vehicle manufacturer for the needs of an unnamed Eastern European country.

On the other hand, the acceptance trials for the GÖKDENİZ 100/35/StA to be exported to an Eastern European country were completed. The customer might be Ukraine as it will use the CIWS onboard its MİLGEM corvettes.

 ALKAR 100/81

ALKAR 100/81 is an automated 81 mm mortar system developed after the ALKAR 100/120, which uses a 120 mm mortar. As a lighter system, ALKAR 100/81 can be mounted on flatbed 4x4 armoured vehicles and even commercial pickup trucks. Additionally, the system can be used in fixed positions for outpost defence duties.

GÜRZ Air Defence System Comes in Two Configurations
ASELSAN’s activity report for 2024 includes the development of the GÜRZ gun/missile hybrid air defence system in two configurations: GÜRZ 200 and GÜRZ 140.

According to the annual report, GÜRZ 200 and GÜRZ 140 will be developed as two different configurations of the hybrid air defence system under the Multi-Purpose Point Air Defence System programme.

GÜRZ 200 is shown as the truck-mounted version of the system, which was first unveiled officially during IDEF’23.

As to what GÜRZ 140 might look like, a hint was previously spotted on ASELSAN’s website. Concept drawing of a hybrid air defence system with an identical configuration to GÜRZ 200, mounted on an 8x8 armoured vehicle similar to PARS ALPHA 8x8, was seen briefly. Differently from GÜRZ 200, this concept has smaller AESA radars and another quad set of MANPADS in place of GÖKSUR air defence missiles.

Additionally, a GÜRZ variant with a water-down on some capabilities for enhanced mobility onboard armoured vehicles would strategically make more sense than another truck-mounted configuration. If GÜRZ 140 indeed turns out to be an armoured vehicle-mounted variant, it can be considered a higher-end alternative to the KORKUT 35 mm SPAAG family with all-aspect search and air defence missiles in addition to a 35 mm revolver cannon.

ASELSAN Reveals TOLUN F SDB with Alternative Warhead TurDef
ASELSAN announced the new member of the TOLUN small-diameter bomb family as TOLUN F, which is fitted with a fragmentation warhead instead of penetrating.

TOLUN F, like the baseline TOLUN, uses GNSS/INS guidance. However, the warhead is an alternative one that uses fragmentation effect instead of penetration by hard shell.

TurDef learned that despite the form similarity with TOLUN IIR, the munition has no seeker. This hints at a more cost-effective solution with simpler guidance, as IIR seekers have considerable costs. Additionally, the warhead might be common with TOLUN IIR because the seeker-fitted variant uses a fragmentation warhead as well.

As expected, the bomb can be used from SADAK-4T and SADAK-2T smart racks or, in the case of some UCAVs like Akıncı and Bayraktar TB3, singular hardpoints.

ROKETSAN and PT Republik Signs Contracts for Cooperation TurDef
ROKETSAN and Indonesian PT Republik Defense have signed two contracts for the Atmaca anti-ship missile and a joint production initiative in Indo Defence 2025.

ROKETSAN announced the signing of two contracts with Indonesia’s PT Republik on its official X account. In addition to the Atmaca anti-ship missile, there will be a joint production.,

Previously, the Strategic Defence Cooperation MoU signed between Turkiye and Indonesia included a joint venture (JV) with ROKETSAN to produce “anti-ship cruise missiles and multi-platform missiles” in Indonesia.

This hints that Indonesia might become involved in the production of the Çakır compact cruise missile, which can be launched from UCAVs, fighters, USVs, trucks, helicopters, and warships.

 Atmaca

Atmaca was developed by ROKETSAN as an anti-ship missile primarily for warships. The anti-ship missile has been fire-tested from Ada-class corvettes, 8x8 trucks, and more recently, TCG Preveze (S-353) submarine as encapsulated Atmaca. The missile is also planned to be integrated on fighter jets.

Atmaca can reach a range of 250 km and carries a HE-FRAG warhead weighing 220 kg. Intertial guidance consists of GNSS, INS, and altimeters, while either one of the RF or IIR seekers is used for terminal guidance.

ROKETSAN’s Çakır Cruise Missile Demonstrates ATR Capability TurDef
ROKETSAN’s Çakır compact cruise missile fired from Akıncı UCAV used the Automatic Target Recognition capability of its IIR seeker on a stationary sea target.

The test video showed feed from the IIR seeker at the terminal stage, which discriminated the target to be hit from another nearby target using the Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) feature.

ATR is a feature found in newer cruise missiles, which allows for autonomous discrimination of a given target based on the output from the optical seeker.

Like SOM-B1/B2 cruise missiles, Çakır also has this capability for the IIR seeker variant. Various ground or naval platforms can be given to the targeting system, making Çakır usable for both land attack and anti-ship use.
